Cubs‘ Start Time Moved Friday Amid Hectic Schedule

The may not have gotten a break from Major League Baseball in their current run of games, but they at least were given a bit of a reprieve by the city of Chicago.

The team announced that their Friday game against the Cincinnati Reds has been moved to 7:05 p.m. from its original start time at 1:20 p.m.

The Cubs are currently playing through a stretch where they have scheduled games for 30 consecutive days, and will play on Thursday on the 24th of those days when they take on the Washington Nationals in a make-up game.

The Cubs had pushed to have the game rescheduled for Oct. 1 to help alleviate the strain on players, but the league decided to go ahead with the contest, forcing the Cubs to fly to Washington late Wednesday night and return to Chicago late Thursday night.

The city of Chicago rarely allows the Cubs to play Friday night games as part of their agreement with the team, but made an exception in this case to give the team a bit of extra rest before they take the field.

After the Cubs play a three-game series against the Reds, they will head to Arizona for a three-game series against the Diamondbacks. Finally, on Sept. 20, they will have a day off, their first scheduled day off in nearly a month.
