Private firm installs 10 ‘e-toilets‘ in Kanpur

LUCKNOW: Following the Swachh Bharat initiative launched by the Centre, a private firm in Kanpur has recently installed 10 ‘e-toilets‘ in the city.

The e-toilets, installed by Lohia Corp Limited, require minimum support in terms of electric connection, water supply and sewerage from the municipal authorities.

People will be charged Re 1 for using these e-toilets. The funds collected from them will be used for their maintenance.

“The money collected will be used for its upkeep only,” the company said in a statement.

The eco-friendly lavatories have been installed at DM office, RTO and CSJM University campus.

Rajrani, who had arrived at Jhakarkati Bus Station after a 6-hour journey, found the e-toilet very hygienic and easy to use and was all praise for such an initiaive.

Similarly Kallu, who runs a pan-shop near the DM Office, says he regularly uses the e-toilet as it is just next to his shop and he finds it clean and smell-free.
