Rolesville tops Broughton in overtime thriller, 27-21

Rolesville scored 21 unanswered points on Wednesday night to stun Broughton in overtime, 27-21.

The Rams scored twice in the second half, converted on a big two-point conversion, then sealed a victory in overtime of a game that they once trailed 21-6.

Broughton jumped out to a fast start.

Gordon Guest found Dabreyn Belfield in the endzone for an early 7-0 Capital lead.

Kingsley Nwachukwu got Rolesville within one following a 5-yard score, and missed extra point. The Caps had a quick answer as Brandon Codrington took the ensuing kick off 90-yards to extend the Broughton lead to 14-6.

Broughton took a 21-6 lead into halftime as Guest hooked up with a leaping Jakym Clark in the final seconds of the second quarter.

Rolesville’s three scores followed, and it allowed the Rams to win its third straight game to improve to 3-2 on the season.

After jumping out to a 3-0 record on the season, the Caps have dropped two straight. They look to rebound in two weeks with a home game against Southeast Raleigh.
